Project Overview
Huayu undertook the power supply project for Line 8 of a subway in a central Chinese city. We provided customized traction transformers and auxiliary transformers for 12 stations and 1 traction substation, fully meeting the power supply needs of the entire subway line. The project covered the whole process from product customization to after-sales service, ensuring the subway’s long-term stable operation.
Project Background & Challenges
Subways have extremely high requirements for power supply, needing zero-power-failure support under high voltage and large current conditions. The underground installation environment is special, requiring transformers to be compact, moisture-proof, low-noise and easy to maintain. At the same time, subway operation has strict standards for equipment reliability, anti-interference ability and energy efficiency, which put forward high technical requirements for transformer products.
Core Requirements
The project put forward clear core requirements for transformers. First, it must ensure zero fault operation during subway operation to avoid affecting normal travel. Second, the product size needs to be compact to adapt to the limited space in underground stations. Third, it must reach Grade 1 energy efficiency level to reduce long-term energy consumption. In addition, low noise is required to ensure the comfort of passengers, and it must comply with national subway power supply standards and have strong anti-interference ability to adapt to the complex electromagnetic environment of subways.
Customized Solutions
To meet the project’s needs, we customized ZD11 series traction transformers and SCB19 dry-type transformers. The ZD11 series traction transformers are designed for the heavy-load traction demand of subways, with excellent overload capacity and comprehensive fault protection functions. The SCB19 dry-type transformers adopt a moisture-proof design, suitable for the humid underground environment, and are equipped with intelligent monitoring functions to realize real-time tracking of equipment status. At the same time, our products have been optimized in terms of size and noise, effectively solving the problems of space limitation and noise impact in subway applications.
Project Achievements
After the project was put into operation, it achieved 24 months of zero fault operation, fully meeting the subway’s power supply reliability requirements. The products have reached Grade 1 energy efficiency, with an annual power saving of 18,000 kWh per substation, which has achieved good energy-saving effects. This project has been recognized by the subway operator and has become a benchmark project for urban rail transit power supply, also helping Huayu further expand its layout in the rail transit power supply market.
